Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she won the Emmy Award. As the sole daughter to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a housewife, Delaney had a family of four brothers. While she was a small girl, Delaney hoped to be a court-reporter. The professional life she has had is better than her personal life. The talented actress was afflicted with alcoholism in the past and had two failed marriages. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
