Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she began gaining notoriety. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012 after she released her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound, as well as her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21, 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's remark. Later in the season, the music was played throughout Dreamville. The announcement of her decision to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On October 21, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it was released on September 5th. She released her second single, Grampa on November 9. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on November 16th. It then came out as a standalone single in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 to accompany the track. Within the first time, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 views. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
